  It's a few years since we last had the pleasure of a stay at La Bannière and, thankfully, very little has changed. Same uneven floors and unexpected steps. Same matchbox-sized car park that makes you offer prayers of thanks to the inventor of power steering. Same gloriously quirky rooms. A great shame that the excellent restaurant was closed this time, but then Laon on a Monday is like something from Dawn Of The Dead and it's the Fête de la Musique tomorrow. Feels like I've come home again....
